Recently we reviewed
the iFrogz
EarPollution Mogul
line of headphones.
We mentioned that
while they were
comfortable,
durable, and a great
pair of head phones…
They weren’t great
for the avid rock
listener. They’re
heavy on the bass,
but picking up on
the treble just
isn’t great… Those
headphones are
optimal for some
bass thumping music.
Looking at a
different iFrogz
EarPollution set,
the EarPollution
Nerve Pipes are
perfect for people
who listen to a lot
of rock music.
Sound:
The sound on the
Nerve Pipes is
completely different
from the Moguls.
Instead of an
overwhelming bass,
you’re getting a
steady version of
that here. The bass
isn’t as prevalent
on these headphones
and that allows some
other elements to
stick out more. Not
only that but
sometimes steady
bass that’s over the
top has a negative
impact on the music
you’re listening to.
It makes it sound
like you’re
listening to things
in a tunnel and
you’re not getting
vocals and guitar as
clear as they could
be. The Nerve Pipes
don't have this
problem. There’s
plenty of bass to go
around, but it’s not
over the top and it
doesn’t drown out
the rest of the
music. As far as
sound quality goes
this set is perfect
for all types of
music. The bass is
great and everything
sounds crystal
clear.
Comfort:
The
Nerve Pipes one
downside is comfort.
Sadly they aren’t
nearly as
comfortable as the
Moguls. They don’t
have the same
padding as the other
line and that hurts
their lasting appeal
somewhat. I will say
they aren’t
uncomfortable. The
rotational ear cups
and the padded
headband are a nice
touch. The main
problem with comfort
comes down to the
length of the chord.
It’s a little short
and that limits
mobility around the
device you’re
plugged into.
Durability:
The head phones
themselves appear to
be pretty durable.
I’ve had these for a
couple of weeks and
I’ve done all kinds
of construction
projects while
wearing them and
they show no wear or
tear. The chord does
hurt this score
slightly, again it’s
short which is never
good, but the chord
isn’t very thick
either. That said, a
good layer of
coating on the chord
makes me think it’s
going to last a few
years.
Look and Design:
Out of what iFrogz
has to offer with
earphones this is
the coolest design.
The set comes in
several different
designs with
different colors and
different graphics
over the ears. I’m
partial to the
spider and the
hazmat sign designs.
Both cool graphics
are accompanied by a
sharp-looking red
paint. The look and
design and the sound
of the Nerve Pipes
stand out.
Overall:
The
EarPollution Nerve
Pipes are a great
set of headphones.
If you listen to a
lot of different
genres of music then
this set is perfect
because it does
every kind of music
well. The chord
could have been
thicker and longer
but not everybody is
going to have that
problem with them.
Couple the
sound quality and
the fact that these
headphones look
awesome, and you’ve
got a winner of a
product.
