The
cartoons that are
created for mature
audiences in today’s
entertainment world
capitalize on
offensive material.
Really that’s the
joke for a lot of
them- it’s funny
because it’s
offensive. But
there’s a line. It’s
not just what you
can talk about and
what you can’t talk
about, its how much
offensive content
can be packaged on
one show. There are
limits and lines
with everything.
Everything but
The
Drawn Together
Movie: The Movie.
This movie had some
potential to be
funny and
entertaining just
like the show was in
its initial season,
but then the writers
just started being
offensive for the
sake of being
offensive and they
did too much for too
long. After the
first 30 minutes of
this show the shock
will wear off and
you’ll just shake
your head and hope
there’s not much
time in the movie
left. From showing
genitals and breasts
to stomping on
kittens and puppies
with high heels
while the producer
masturbates… there’s
just really too much
for too long with
The
Drawn Together
Movie: The Movie.
Comedy Central
approached the
creators of
Drawn
Together
about a direct to
DVD movie. The
creators couldn’t
think of anything
initially after the
show was cancelled
but they came up
with the premise of
the show being
cancelled and then
the producers trying
to kill the
characters to clean
up their mess.
That’s the story in
the nutshell. It’s a
great idea; it just
wasn’t executed very
well. The jokes have
no timing, there’s
no plot, and the
offensive material
goes too far and
there’s too much of
it. I love
Family Guy,
South
Park,
American Dad,
and all of the other
risqué cartoons. I’m
not overly sensitive
about anything but
this was just too
much. Avoid
The
Drawn Together
Movie: The Movie.
It’s not worth the
money to rent it or
watch it and you’ll
end up watching the
front of your DVD
player to see when
it will be over more
than you’re watching
the movie itself.
