Music games have
become a popular genre. There's been
so many guitar hero releases that
it's starting to get ridiculous and
there's even been a Lego version of
Rock Band. Point is... it's kind of
gotten out of hand without
developing anything new. Until now.
DJ Hero is a new music game
experience with a new controller, a
good collection of, songs, and some
great new ideas.
The controller
deck for DJ Hero is awesome. You get
a turntable, a cross-fader, a few
buttons, and an effects knob. The
controller is relatively simple. The
cross-fader can be a real pain in
the ass at different parts of a song
because you can probably argue that
it's too precise but that's really
the only problem with the
controller. Overall, it's a great
piece of hardware.
The songs that
have been mashed up are amazing.
There's an eclectic selection of
music available from 102 songs that
includes 93 original mixes that you
can't hear anywhere else. The music
in a music game needs to be good and
DJ Hero's music definitely is.
There aren't
really any game-modes to DJ Hero.
That will come with future
installments. For now you play
songs, earn stars, and unlock new
songs, new equipment, and new
outfits. The point of the game is
the game itself. That's what made
Guitar Hero successful and that's
what makes DJ Hero so much fun.
