Defiance is an
inspiring movie about the Bielski
brothers set in the time of the
Holocaust. It's not anything that
you expect from the marketing and
trailers of the film but what it is,
is an amazing story of three
brothers and a group of people
facing the worst of circumstances
and finding a way and a will to
survive.
There were three
Bielski brothers- Tuvia (the
leader), Zus (the hard-willed and
sometimes hard-headed one), and
Asael (the youngest and the peace
keeper)- the three brothers created
a camp in the Nalibocka Forrest for
Jews on the run from the Nazis. They
faced incredible odds with surviving
extreme Winter, the Nazis, and local
villagers who looked out for their
own interests. Defiance is a story
of how Tuvia and the other Bielski
brothers led a group of Jews to
survival in a time where that had to
be all that mattered to them.
Daniel Craig
plays Tuvia Bielski in the film and
he's tremendous here just like he is
in everything else that he's been
in. He plays the role extremely well
and as Tuvia is a hero that you can
get behind. Liev Schreiber plays the
role as Zus and he might be better
than Craig in this film because the
casting with him in the role of Zus
was no less than perfect.
Defiance was
directed by Edward Zwick (Glory) and
Zwick did a good job with the story
and the actors that he was given.
This is a great movie even if it
might not have been portrayed in
it's marketing to be what it is.
Craig and Schreiber are great in the
movie and the story is based on a
true story and is a powerful one at
that. Something that you should
definitely check out.
