Ummm….. to say that the latest Call of Duty game rocks would be a vast understatement. The sequel to Call of Duty’s first present-time game; Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It’s an excellent title. That’s the first and foremost thing you need to know about the game. It brings the intensity of the Call of Duty franchise and places it right in the middle of our world and even our soil.

The first Modern Warfare was nice. The people at Infinity Ward distinctly made it into a separate franchise from the World War II games. It was impressive with a unique story, better visuals, and an amazing score. Modern Warfare 2 builds on that even more. The visuals in this game are incredible. It’s the brightest looking Call of Duty game ever made and you have to admire all of the attention taken by the developers into every tiny detail. Whether that’s in Brazil, Afghanistan or in any of the other areas you’ll be blown away with the graphics of this game. Possibly just as much as the first time you turned on your Xbox 360 or your Playstation 3. Not only are the visuals impressive in this game, but the sound is perhaps the best on any FPS game ever. Guns were recorded, chatter between enemies and your team is crazy to listen to and playing in Dolby Digital when you can be surrounded by the sound is the best way to experience an immersive experience such as this.

The single-player campaign mode on Modern Warfare 2 is a little short and while the visuals and audio are both outstanding the story line that’s set up is a little bare. It can be hard to follow if you’re really not paying attention. For me at times it was like watching The Hunt for Red October when I was 8… I didn’t really understand what was going on all the time. The single player campaign comes in at 6-7 hours for the normal gamer to get through, but that's forgivable due to a new mode. The Spec. Ops mode. In the Spec Ops, you play with a partner or by yourself completing various missions and objectives- they're just not set up with a story. The mode is addictive and fun, and will breathe new life into every Call of Duty game made from here on out.

The multiplayer mode on Modern Warfare 2 is amazing as well. It’s really better than a game that’s specifically made for multiplayer action like Quake Wars. The visuals in multi-player still look damn good- which is saying something. And the amount of strategy that can be taken across the board with the game is unmatched.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is easily the best Call of Duty game ever made and that’s saying something because the franchise has five or six solid titles in a row.  Epic visuals and audio make the gameplay experience amazing. The story could have been set up a little better, but it’s still immersive.  The multi-player modes including the new Spec Ops mode are addictive and add days to how long you can play this game. Modern Warfare 2 is the best shooter ever made. Bring clean pants, bring medication to calm you down, whatever you need to cope when you get overly-excited is what you’re going to need with this title.
