Castle is another crime drama show
that’s an hour long but infuses some
comedy into the storyline. A lot
like every show CBS has made for the
past five years and a lot like the
recently reviewed Mentalist. Except
the twist on Castle is that he’s a
crime writer who is tuned into a
crime solver because he needs
material for his books. He gets his
way onto doing this through the
mayor and the police chief and he
gets forced on Detective Beckett the
show is about those two solving
murders together. And of course
fighting back their constant
romantic tensions that they feel for
each other.
The show is good. It’s a little over
the top sappy sometimes and some
parts of it are just written with
terrible one liners but for the most
part it’s written well and is casted
well enough to make it into a
serviceable show. Castle stars
Nathan
Fillion
who recently starred in Halo 3 ODST
as weird as that was, and that
simple fact made me like the show so
much better. He’s smart and witty
and he is perfectly capable of
carrying the show by himself.
Luckily he doesn’t have to do that
because Stana Katic, who plays
Beckett, is good too.
The first season Castle only has 12
episodes. Those episodes are fit
onto four discs on this set and it
also features some behind the scenes
stuff and some different bonus
features. The show itself is good
and it’s a good TV to DVD set to get
yourself wrapped up in. Especially
since you can watch season two on
ABC now as well.
