The Bourne
Ultimatum
is the third movie in the Bourne
series. Matt Damon is back as Jason
Bourne, everyone’s favorite spy with
a memory problem who kicks
everyone’s ass. In
The Bourne
Supremacy,
Treadstone boss Ward Abbot killed
Bourne’s girlfriend Marie and
angered him to new levels. He was
out to find out who did it and why
and when he did, he didn’t like it.
The third movie wasn’t really set up
by the second movie, but whatever…
the third movie is still great.
In
The Bourne
Ultimatum,
Bourne has a new enemy. Blackwater.
It’s an organization like Treadstone
in the CIA, except it’s the name
given for all black ops. Now when a
target is in range for an
assassination or whatever it might
be, Blackwater doesn’t have to call
to get orders on whether they can do
the kill or not. They just do it. So
that’s who Bourne is up against.
Blackwater knows the answers about
Treadstone and so that’s who he’s
after.
What’s weird
about this third movie is what it
has in common with the second movie.
A few of the scenes are in both
movies. They end
The Bourne
Supremacy
one way, and then with
The Bourne
Ultimatum
the scene that was in the end of
The Bourne
Supremacy
is right in the middle of
The Bourne
Ultimatum.
It’s a very oddly laid out movie.
Damon is still awesome as Bourne.
Especially towards the end of the
movie where a lot of things about
the series get some light shed on
them. David Strathairn as Noah Vosen
was good as the main villain in the
film too. It was odd seeing him in
that role but he was very good.
As for bonus
features, this is the weak link on
bonus features of the three DVD/Blu-Ray
flipper discs from Universal. They
all have the same Blu-ray features
in common but
The Bourne
Ultimatum
lacked a lot of features in its
original release and it lacks a lot
here too. There’s not a lot here
with bonus content but it doesn’t
take that much away from the movie.
The Bourne
Ultimatum
was a great film for fans of the
series. It wasn’t as good as
The Bourne
Identity
but it was slightly better than
The Bourne
Supremacy
and that includes the odd
overlapping scenes from the second
movie to this third movie. It’s
filled with twists and turns, and
you finally get to know the whole
truth about Jason Bourne. That why
this flipper disc is a must own.
