Batman: The Brave
and the Bold
is one of the better
Batman cartoons that
Warner and DC has
made. It’s a joy to
watch the different
team-ups with Batman
and it’s got a great
sense of humor to
boot. My young sons
love the cartoon and
I enjoy it too. The
method of the DVD
release isn’t my
favorite with two
volumes from 1
season but it’s a
great show and with
12 episodes on this
two-disc DVD set
you’ll get plenty of
viewing time with
this for $15-$20. So
it’s not a bad
purchase.
Batman: The Brave
and the Bold
was a new but old
approach to Batman.
Amidst Christopher
Nolan’s take on the
Batman series, where
everything is dark
almost to an
extreme…
Batman: The Brave
and the
Bold is a humorous
team-up approach for
the bat. It feels
more like the
classic Batman from
the 60’s and 70’s
where Adam West
played the
character. So yes,
it’s void of the
edginess and
darkness that a lot
of other batman
cartoons have had,
namely,
The
Batman.
This would be a bit
of a weird decision
if the series
creators didn’t do
such an amazing job
with writing other
DC characters in and
coming up with some
fun episode plot
lines.
Speaking of those
mash-ups and plot
lines, Volume 2 of
Season 1 has some
great guest spots by
DC Heroes including
Adam Strange,
Aquaman, The
Outsiders, Wildcat,
Blue Beatle, Robin,
Huntress, Green
Arrow, and more. The
plot lines are great
too with the guest
stars being pinned
up against their
foes with Batman’s
help or with a
villain from the DC
Universe that the
heroes have to
conquer with their
team-up.
What’s great about
Batman: The Brave
and the Bold?
Everything really.
The guest spots from
the heroes are
fantastic, the witty
banter is something
that I always love
and the animation
style is stellar
too. The scripts and
the voice work are
witty and fun to
follow as well.
What’s bad? The
voice of Batman on
the series is
Diedrich Bader, most
famous for being the
oddball Oswald from
the
Drew
Carry Show
is a little hard to
get used to. I
always relate
Bader’s voice to
Oswald. Still, he
does a good enough
job and you can get
used to him after
the third episode or
so.
Batman: The Brave
and the Bold Season
One, Volume Two
has thirteen great
episodes that your
little batman fan
will love. It might
be a little too
youthful for some
older fans but as a
parent it’s great to
see a new DC show
that they can watch
made available.
