Bad
Teacher
looked promising.
Cameron Diaz is
never bad and Jason
Segel can be
extremely funny and
even though Justin
Timberlake is well….
Justin Timberlake,
there’s a certain
amount of charisma
that he brings to
the screen. The
three together had
the potential to
bring an
entertaining comedy
to the screen and
even though it
probably wasn’t as
funny as I thought
it looked
originally, it’s not
a bad comedy and
it’s a good movie if
you’re in the need
of some laughs.
Elizabeth Halsey is
a middle school
English teacher and
really she’s the
last person in the
world that you’d
want molding young
minds. She’s a
gold-digging
degenerate bimbo
that doesn’t really
hold any validity to
society because she
doesn’t try to do
anything other than
get a meal ticket.
She’s a teacher at a
middle school but
she plans on
quitting as soon as
she gets married to
her rich boyfriend.
But when her
boyfriend breaks off
the wedding,
Elizabeth is stuck
right back in the
middle school rut.
Along comes the rich
and handsome teacher
Scott (Timberlake)
he’s rich because of
family money and
he’s naïve enough
that Elizabeth can
make him fall for
her typical tricks.
While trying to get
Scott interested in
her, Elizabeth
realizes that she
needs to get a boob
job so she can get
his attention. She
wants to get the
enhancement surgery,
but she can’t afford
it. When she
discovers that she
can get over $6,000
for having her
students test well
on a state exam she
immediately pushes
them all to be
better students and
well… you get it…
the plots not nearly
as important and the
crudeness of the
jokes.
The movie’s jokes
are its strength.
Cameron Diaz is next
to vile in the movie
while remaining her
typical hot self.
This is really her
movie and she makes
it enjoyable
throughout. Her
delivery here with
all of her material
is spot-on.
Timberlake is also
actually pretty
decent here too. He
plays the naïve and
subjective Scott
very well. Jason
Segel is always
great and he’s great
here too although he
could have done more
with his character
with a few more
minutes on the
screen.
The movie’s
weakness? Well
there’s not really
one to consider
because it’s a
light-hearted
comedy. It doesn’t
take itself too
seriously and it
doesn’t attempt to
showcase morality or
any themes. It’s
basically about the
laughs, and needless
to say it delivers
them and it delivers
them one after
another fairly
routinely. It could
have better,
absolutely, but it’s
in its own little
bubble that can’t be
criticized too
closely because
again… it’s well
made. I’m sure it
could have been
written a little
better but it is
what it is.
The
bonus content on the
Bad
Teacher
Blu-ray
is fairly copious.
The content features
a few laughs with
gag reels, outtakes,
deleted scenes, and
a funny feature with
Segel and
Timberlake. There’s
plenty here that
fans of the movie
can go back to and
enjoy.
Bad
Teacher
is actually pretty
good. It’s not the
filthiest comedy
I’ve seen but it’s
probably the
filthiest I’ve seen
with a female star
carrying the load of
the work. It’s not
for those high in
moral fiber, but for
most it’ll be an
entertaining hour
and a half.
