The
Avengers: Earth’s
Mightiest Heroes
has become my
favorite Marvel
animated series. A
lot of great Marvel
cartoons have been
released over the
past five years, but
this series is above
all of the rest. It
accurately goes
through why The
Avengers united in
the first place and
it does a good job
introducing
characters- heroes
and villains alike.
It’s a fantastic
cartoon on Disney XD
and as the first
season has wrapped
up I’m definitely
waiting for the
second season to
start.
Like
the old 90’s X-Men
cartoons, Marvel and
Disney has decided
to release
The
Avengers: Earth’s
Mightiest Heroes
in
volumes. The first
season has come out
on DVD in four
different volumes.
Volume one and two
came out earlier in
the year and each of
those volumes have
six and seven
episodes. Recently,
volumes three and
four have come out
and they’re just as
good as the first
two volumes.
Volume four features
seven episodes where
all of the questions
that have come up
during the first
season get answered.
Not all of them, but
most of them. We get
hints of the
incoming alien war
coming to Earth
between two alien
species. We also get
to see Ultron become
super-destructive
and evil AND we get
to see the master
behind it all, Loki
square off against
The Avengers in a
giant battle that’s
well… it’s awesome.
The
only problem with
The
Avengers Volume Four
is the release
itself. Instead of
releasing a complete
season on four discs
in one box and
charging $30-$40 on
that, Disney has
released this in
volumes- something
that’s done pretty
commonly- to get a
few extra bucks out
of consumers. It’s
not a horrible
tactic and six great
episodes are cool to
watch for a $15
price tag… but it
would be nice to
catch a break and
have all of the
episodes in one
packaging option.
Packaging and
pricing grumbles
aside,
The
Avengers: Earth’s
Mightiest Heroes
is an awesome series
and it’s a series
that all Marvel fans
will love and people
warming up for the
release of the movie
might want to watch.
There are more
efficient ways to
produce the series
than on DVD- buying
a season on iTunes
is cheaper AND the
series was available
to watch on Netflix.
Still if you want
these and want to
hold onto them for
awhile this is a
good option.
