Army of Two:
The 40th
Day is the sophomore release in the
franchise and the follow up to the
successful Army of Two. The game
follows Reyes and Salem in Shanghai,
China. They get sent there to
perform a routine operation for
mercs. Tag a few buildings, kill
anyone in your way, and get out.
Easy work. Of course when something
is too good to be true it usually is
and right after their done with
their job massive amounts of bombs
start falling on Shanghai and
general disaster erupts. Army of
Two: The 40th Day
chronicles the guys’ fight out of
Shanghai and their fight for
survival.
Of course with Army
of Two the focus is on co-op
gameplay. And that co-op gameplay
with Army of Two is one of the best
experiences you’ll get to play on
the X360 or on any other console.
There are several teamwork maneuvers
like sniping, opening up doors,
boosts, and the like. All of the
teamwork aspects are really well
done and that’s the highlight of the
game. The amount of additions from
the first game to this game is
staggering. Everything that was
present is better and a few new
additions are here too.
The problems with Army of Two are
simple. The game is too short and
the camera sucks. I hate games with
limited camera angles and Army of
Two is definitely one of them. There
are reasons to implement this…
mainly for split-screen co-op play
but let the people who share a
console worry about that… it
shouldn’t be an across the board
type thing. The game is too short
too… it doesn’t take very long to
get from start to finish and the
first few chapters can be done in an
evening.
Army of Two: The 40th
Day
implements several very cool co-op
gaming features. That’s a definite
bonus. It also offers up a very cool
morality system that gives you lots
of options to play through the game
several times, but even with all
that stuff it’s still short. Weapon
customization is also present here
and extremely deep. There are
several positive things with Army of
Two, more than enough to merit
purchase of this title.
