Seth MacFarlane is a
busy guy with three
cartoon series to
oversee and a lot of
standards to live up
to with each of
them. When George W.
Bush got reelected
for President in
2004, MacFarlane
went into action and
created American
Dad. Different from
Family Guy and the
newer Cleveland
Show, American Dad
settles into
political satire
mixed in with its
shock and awe
comedy. The show has
been around for
awhile now, and
Volume 5 just came
out on a 3 disc DVD.
This set isn’t
packed with extras,
though there is an
incredibly fun
drinking came for
you to partake in as
well as some deleted
scenes. This set is
about 14 very funny
episodes of American
Dad- a show that’s
gotten funnier over
the past couple of
seasons- and it
started with these
episodes.
Some highlights from
this volume include
“Phantom of the
Telethon” where
Roger gives Stan the
idea to raise money
for the CIA- only
Stan doesn’t give
him credit so Roger
seeks to sabotage
the event. It also
features Stan Time,
an episode where
Stan gets a miracle
drug that allows him
to go without sleep.
He finds time to do
everything he wants
to do in a day-
including stuff for
himself, until
Francine tries to
ruin his party.
Another favorite is
Wife Insurance. Stan
makes the mistake of
telling Francine of
his back-up plan to
marry his dentist if
she dies. All the
way around it just
ends up in disaster
for Stan and
Francine as she
tries to make him
jealous and he tries
to get his life
back.
American Dad Volume
5 has some of the
best episodes you’ll
see from this show.
Volume 6 will be
even funnier than
Volume 5 when that
gets released, but
for now these 14
episodes will keep
you laughing for a
long time.
