The
Simpsons: The
Complete Fourteenth
Season
comes to DVD and Blu-ray
and yet again the
show continues its
trend of excellence
by putting the best
in audio and video
quality on disc and
by adding in a ton
of supplemental
features for fans to
enjoy. The typical
introduction by Matt
Groening starts the
whole thing off and
then 22 episodes
with deleted scenes
and commentary make
it a great set…
pretty much it’s as
good as the thirteen
DVD and two Blu-ray
releases that have
come before this
one. It’s a set to
hold on to.
Here’s ranking the
top five episodes
from Season 14 on
Blu-ray
1.
How I
Spent My Strummer
Vacation:
After Homer bears
all of his misery
with family life on
TV while
intoxicated, Marge
and the kids are
initially furious.
But upon thinking of
it they decide to
make Homer’s life a
little better and
let him live out
some of his dreams
at The Rolling
Stones Rock ‘n’ Roll
Fantasy Camp.
At the camp
Homer gets to learn
the basics of rock
from Lenny Kravitz,
Tom Petty, Elvis
Costello, Brian
Setzer, Keith
Richards, and Mick
Jager.
2.
Barting Over:
Aired and mocked by
the show as the 300th
Episode this episode
centers around Bart.
While spring
cleaning, Bart and
Lisa learn that
Homer put Bart in an
embarrassing
commercial when he
was a baby. Instead
of putting the money
away for Bart when
he grows up, Bart
learns that Homer
spent it all. Upon
learning the news,
Bart gets an
emancipation from
Homer and Marge,
moves out and
becomes neighbors
with Tony Hawk and
meets blink-182.
3.
A
Star is Born Again:
Flanders starts a
romance with a
famous movie star
and becomes the talk
of the town. Of
course, Flanders
isn’t exactly the
movie star dating
type… he’s a
monogamous creature
by nature. Ned finds
out that romance
doesn’t always work
out the hard way.
It’s kind of like
Notting Hill
on
The
Simpsons.
4.
Moe
Baby Blues:
Moe saves Maggie
from certain doom
and the two form a
deep bond. That bond
makes Marge and
Homer jealous and
mischief only the
way Moe can make
ensues.
5.
The
Great Louse
Detective:
Homer has made his
fair share of
enemies over the
years but apparently
he pissed one of
them to extreme
levels and now
they’re trying to
kill him. In the
typical Springfield
PD fashion, Wiggum
decides to enlist
some help to
discover who the
culprit is. That
help is a familiar
foe of The Simpsons.
The
Simpsons: The
Complete Fourteenth
Season
is a must-pickup for
any Simpsons fan.
Just like the other
releases on DVD and
Blu-ray. If you love
this show as much as
so many millions do
the extra features
and some great
episodes make it a
great pickup.
