Any
video game should be
judged for the
demographic audience
that it was made
for. That’s even if
it’s a unique entity
like Pokémon where
adults can enjoy
catching them all
just like kids. My
young son has
recently become
infatuated with
Pokémon trading
cards and the
cartoon series. That
makes
Pokemon Rumble Blast
something
he’s
enjoyed immensely.
Did I enjoy the
game? Not exactly,
but it wasn’t meant
for me. It was meant
for young kids
getting into
Pokémon.
Pokémon Rumble Blast
is the follow-up to
Pokémon Rumble,
a Wii Ware title
that was released
last year. That game
wasn’t greeted with
rave reviews. Mainly
because the graphics
were terrible and
everything else to
do with the design
of the game was a
little off. It
wasn’t a bad game,
it was just made for
Wii Ware and was and
should be treated as
such. Pokémon Rumble
Blast is in a lot of
ways the same game.
It’s poorly designed
graphically and the
gameplay revolves
around a lot of
button mashing and
collecting. It
doesn’t sound like a
ton of fun for all
gamers, but it
sounds like quite a
bit of fun for the
young ones. You
don’t have to over
think things and you
get to see the
little creatures in
action.
That’s not to say
that the grown-up
gamers will
completely despise
this game though
because as far as
being 3D capable
this game is more
than capable. There
is some great use of
effects and even
though there’s not a
lot of depth to the
gameplay there’s a
lot of action to be
had with the game
when you need
something simple to
play.
Pokémon Rumble Blast
is a title made for
the novice gamer.
Simple button
mashing mixed with
fun characters and a
lot of collecting
makes It perfect for
that crowd. Older
gamers who’re in to
Pokémon and RPG
style gameplay… are
probably going to
want to avoid this
title. But for
average and novice
gamers
it’s
a fun and casual
play.
