Knight and Day
is basically the
better version of
Killers.
The two stars are
better actors, the
production values
are better, the
script is better,
just all around it’s
a better movie. The
two films are very
similar, but unlike
Killers,
Knight and Day
is very watchable
and very likable.
Knight and Day
of course stars Tom
Cruise and Cameron
Diaz. The two are
great on the screen
together and the
chemistry between
them is fantastic.
Cruise plays Roy
Miller in the movie.
Cameron Diaz plays
opposite of him as
June Havens. In an
airport in Wichita
the two bump into
each other at the
terminal and strike
up a conversation…
then they end up on
the same airplane
together. Oddly
enough, no one is
really on the flight
except for 8-10
people including Tom
and June. When the
two connect and June
goes to the bathroom
to gather herself,
she comes out to see
that Tom has killed
everyone on the
plane… including the
two pilots.
Apparently he’s a
special agent, and
all of the dead
people on the plane
were agents out to
get Miller for
something in his
possession. June was
just in the wrong
place at the wrong
time. The rest of
the story is fairly
predictable, Tom
takes June on a wild
adventure, they fall
in love, there are
lots of action and
lots of laughs… the
end.
The two stars of the
movie make the film.
Cruise plays the
crazy but likeable
Miller very well
because he seems
that way in real
life. He has some
great comedic timing
throughout the movie
and his interactions
with Diaz are great.
Diaz, like Cruise,
is perfect for this
movie. She plays the
clumsy but sweet
actress perfectly…
far better than when
she has to play a
character that’s
slightly jaded etc.
The two stars make
the movie but the
script is good, the
direction by James
Mangold is more than
capable and the
combination of
action and humor is
perfect. It’s a
shame that this
didn’t do better at
the box office
because it really is
a great movie. The
only real problem
with it is it’s
about twenty minutes
too long. Towards
the end of the
middle of the movie
it really drags on
and unnecessarily
so.
The bonus features
on the DVD aren’t
that great. There’s
a feature with the
Black Eyed Peas on
making a song for
the movie. There are
a couple of viral
videos and a trailer
for the movie and a
short making-of
feature. That’s
about it, the
feature is great but
the bonus features
are a little weak.
Knight and Day
is something that’s
a perfect quick fix
for a movie. It’s
not a must-own movie
but it’s definitely
something to watch
at least once.
Cruise and Diaz are
perfect on screen
and the film itself
is a fun and
underrated
adventure.
