Cities Anberlin
Read Review
Anberlin's 2007 release "Cities" was an
impressive collection of songs, and spent 2 months at number one on
the Top 10 Albums chart. It was so impressive in fact, that
Anberlin was signed to Universal Records in August and plans to
release their major label debut sometime in 2008.
Young
Modern Silverchair
Read Review
Silverchair's 2007 release of "Young Modern"
marked a complete evolution of the band from their early 90's grunge
sound to a very retro melodic sound. While the album no doubt
disappointed many hardcore Silverchair fans nostalgic for the
"Frogstomp" days, it's brought in a whole new group of fans.
Cigarettes
& Gasoline Emerson Hart
Read Review
After fronting the band Tonic for years,
Emerson Hart took a shot as a solo artist in 2007, and ended up
writing one of the best albums we've heard in a long time. In
many ways, this was an album that Hart had been waiting his whole
life to write. He set out to write his first solo record, with
the goal to have an album full of songs that people could understand
the meaning to, and get behind. To push himself to the limit as a
songwriter, and take risks.
"Being a writer means taking risks, for me at least. If I'm not
taking risks, then I'm not serving the community as a writer," Hart
told Alternative Addiction in March.
The result is by far the most personal and real record that Hart has
ever written, and a clear choice for the Album of the Year for 2007.
