One of the biggest surprises of 2004 was the emergence of Brian VanderArk as a solo artist.  Fronting The Verve Pipe for years, VanderArk returned with his first solo album "Resurrection".  Among the many impressive tracks off this album is the single "Written And Erased" that finished at number 36 on our chart.

2004 brought major changes for Stroke 9.  After being ousted by Universal, Stroke 9 went back to the studio and recorded their latest release "All In".  For the first single, the band tapped Butch Walker to co-write and produce the song, and the result was the song "How Am I Gonna Know" that lands at number 32 on our chart.

Its been quite a difficult year for Vertical Horizon fans, as rumors circulated for most of the year that the band had broken up.  Early this fall the band confirmed that they plan to stay together, although they are no longer signed to RCA.  Prior to all this turmoil the band released the song "Forever" off their 2003 release "Go".

Its no secret that Howie Day is a talented singer and songwriter, but when paired with the song writing genius of Better Than Ezra's Kevin Griffin, the duo recorded one of the most beautiful ballads in recent memory.  The track, "Collide" is just finally starting to gain airplay as the song spent over three months on the Top 20 and finishes at number 9 on the best of 2004.

What a year its been for Butch Walker.  Signing a deal with Sony Music, a brilliant debut CD, and numerous nationwide tours.  Its only fitting that Walker would land at the top of this list with his single Mix Tape.  After rocking for years with the Marvelous 3, Walker revealed a whole new range of emotions with this song, further proving why he is one of the most talented musicians in the music industry today.
