On perhaps one of the best albums of the year, came one of the most heard but least known songs of the year.  Rubyhorse's Sparkle was played repeatedly during the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, and again during the Olympics.  Despite the songs mass exposure, and the fact that it has nothing to do with sports, "Sparkle" only finishes at number 45 on our countdown

The Verve Pipe

On by far the bands strongest release to date, The Verve Pipe's Underneath spawned two hit singles last year, and a huge hit this year with their song "I Want All Of You".  Never officially released as a single by the band, this song spent two weeks at number one on the AA Top, and lands at #40 overall.

Splender

After a year of struggles and label conflicts, Splender finally inked a new deal with J Records in 2003, and released "To Whom it May Concern."  Although the album might not be comparable to the bands debut, its shows some strong creativity and growth for this talented band.

Something's just don't make sense, like why Jeremiah Freed is not one of the biggest bands of 2002.  With an incredible album, and great lead off single in Again, the band never really got their due attention.  This album is one of many great overlooked albums of 2002.

No one could have predicted that Dishwalla would return with such a spectacular album in 2003, and one of the two huge songs off of it was "Angels Or Devils" the honestly and heartfelt lyrics of this song are just a taste of what this album brings.  Look for alot more from Dishwalla in 2003!

Familiar 48 put out one of the most well written albums of 2002 with their debut "Wonderful Nothing."  Their first single "The Question" grabbed the attention of thousands of new fans as the band had a huge year in 2002.  Unfortunately poor promotion forced this band into obscurity in 2002.

It was a big return in 2002 for the Goo Goo Dolls, and one of three of their big hits was the song "Big Machine" which tackled the tough issue of the use of the drug ecstasy, and the even bigger issue of a relationship gone wrong, a different side for the Goo Goo Dolls, but one that we would love to hear more of!

Debut albums don't get much better than this, and Song of the Year, this one is a damn good choice.  Normal Life debut on the AA Top 20 in late September and exploded to number one is just 6 short weeks.  The bands late year release has fans all over just now discovering just how good these guys are!
