Theory of a Deadman

The Truth Is...

About a decade ago with the post-grunge movement (I still don’t know exactly what that means), Theory of a Deadman made their debut on Roadrunner Records with a self-titled album. The album was a fantastic debut and fit that time musically perfect. All these years later, Theory is still going, now better than ever. They’ve changed drastically from that album to their most recent album, but that’s not for the better or for the worse, it’s just different. “The Truth Is…” is the new Theory of a Deadman album and it expands on what the band did with their last two albums. There are a few radio-friendly songs. There are a few tongue-in-cheek, humorous Theory of a Deadman songs. And for the rock-by-numbers group, there’s a song about soldiers at war and a song about the economy. That’s the new Theory record in a nutshell, it’s 12 songs can be summarized in roughly three sentences. But that doesn’t mean that it’s not an enjoyable affair, because it is. Those tongue-in-cheek songs aren’t just slightly funny, they rock too. And those radio songs, well… they’re better than ever… Let’s just say “Out of My Head” making a large impact at pop radio sometime in 2011 or 2012 is highly likely. The new Theory of a Deadman album is another solid one for these guys. It’s not different from “Scars and Souvenirs”; instead it builds on that album. Theory should enjoy similar success with this new record that they’ve gotten over the past couple of albums, and I’m sure they’ll take that.
