The Foxies

Growing Up is Dead
Artwork

Nashville-based power trio The Foxies just released their EP Growing Up is Dead and it's an awesome introduction to a band that should be onto bigger and better things in the near future. The band features Julia Lauren Bullock on vocals, Jake Ohlbaum on guitars, and Rob Bodley on drums and they're all amazing.

Julia Lauren Bullock is one of the coolest frontwomen in rock to come out in a long time. That statement feels like selling her short too. She's probably the biggest personality in rock that we’ve seen in rock in a decade and she's borderline magical singing on this record. She's charismatic and her voice has attitude and passion - absolutely anything you could want out of a lead vocalist. Her chemistry with both Bodley and Ohlbaum is undeniable too. The Foxies are more like the less ska-leaning version of No Doubt than they are like Paramore. More than that though, they're entirely their own thing and it's a ton of fun to listen to them.

Growing Up is Dead is a good EP because the songs on the EP are all great. "Anti Socialite" is the perfect lead single for the record. "Call Me When Your Phone Dies" is just as good. "French Boy" is a punk-powered rock song that's a good time. "Neon Thoughts" is new wave treasure, and "Deep Sea Diver" features an awesome vocal from Bullock in addition to some cool beats/synths on the song.

The Foxies are a band that's going to be at the forefront of music very soon and for a very long time. This EP feels like the first step towards something huge.
