Flight of the Conchords

Flight of the Conchords

They’re from New Zealand, they’re musicians, they’re comedians, they’re musical comedians, they are Flight of the Conchords and they’ve just released the soundtrack/album of songs from their TV show of the same of the name. Flight of the Conchords is an acoustic/hip-hop pop duet that focuses on comedy as much if not more than they’re songs. Their music is full of musical jokes and odes like “Inner City Pressure” being a tribute to 80’s tunes and “Bowie” being a tribute to well… “Bowie.” Their show is on HBO and needless to say it’s wildly popular which is just because for the most part it’s brilliant. This album is as amusing as the TV show and is a must own for fans of the show, most of the classics from the show are here including “Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros”, “Mutha’uckas”, and “Ladies of the World.” A few classics from the show were skipped over like “If You’re into It” and “Frodo, Don’t Wear the Ring”, but most of the classics from the show are covered on the album. There are a few omissions from this album, which sucks, but there’s no way that they’d be able to put all the music from the show on one disc. The only other bad thing about this CD is it’s not visual too… half of Flight of the Conchords jokes are visual in their music videos and that’s what pushes them over the top as a comedic duo. Even still, this album is perfect for fans of the show as a keepsake or just a weird sing-along every now and then.
