Come Close

Although Saosin’s live set isn’t overly impressive as just a CD the DVD part of the set more than makes up for what’s lost with some of the tracks on the CD. There are some great moments of the live set- with certain live sets your ears have to get used to how the studio sounds. It’s hearing a band live with some polishing, and that takes a little bit to get used to. On the “Come Close” CD it takes about 30-45 seconds on each track to get used to how the disc sounds. You should only have one of session of getting used to how the live set sounds and it should be at the beginning of the disc, not on every track. Is there over production/mastering going on, is there a different sound for Saosin live on a CD? I don’t know. I do know that it’s a small thing to obsess about considering how well the band’s energy is translated onto the disc and how well it does sound after your ears adapt. The DVD portion of this set is the best live DVD I’ve ever seen, Saosin is awesome in the show, but the lens chosen in shooting the concert and the overall production and direction of the concert is outstanding and it really pushes it over the top. When you add the excellent live footage to the extra music videos and behind-the-scenes footage, you’ve got a must own for Saosin fans and a live CD/DVD set that’s worth checking out for even casual fans.
