AA: When did you know you would ultimately create a life in music?
AL: I’ve had a special relationship with music for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I would play in my grandfather’s recording studio and when I got old enough to sing words his studio was the first studio I ever recorded in. That was the beginning and the rest is history. Music has literally saved my life. I can’t identify just one moment but I can say that I can’t remember a moment when “A life in music” wasn’t my dream.
AA: How do you balance the life of a musician with the normal day to day?
AL: To be quite honest balance is pretty difficult for me these days. There really is no normal day to day right now. At present my life, every minute, every moment is dedicated to my career. It’s not much of a task because I know I am fighting for my dreams. To have a career in music you must be fully committed. I believe that balance is important after your success but in the beginning, it takes sacrifices. “Normal” life being one of them.
AA: Who have been your greatest musical heroes?
AL: I stand on the shoulders of Giants. Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Patti Labelle, and Prince just to name a few.
AA: If you had to describe your new music in only 3 words what would they be?
AL: Rock Pop SOUL
AA: How do you feel about the current modern musical landscape?
AL: I feel hopeful. I see light at the end of the tunnel. Over the last few years I’ve been frustrated because it was only about sales and talent was lacking. NOW, I see a rise of entertainers like myself. We understand it’s still about sales but we also have studied our craft, we know who the greats are and in turn we intend to bring this business back to real singing, real dancing, & REAL talent. I think over the next few years we are in for some really amazing music and ground-breaking performances. Not the stuff we’re used to but the same vibes that made history when Whitney Houston performed at the Grammys or when Michael Jackson performed at the super bowl.
AA: If you could tour the world with one artist (living or non) who would it be and why?
AL: I’d have to go with someone non-living. Being Michael Jacksons opening act on tour would have been my ultimate dream.
AA: Please share with us one unique thing about you that most of your fans might not know.
AL: Hmmm good question, literally just took a 5 min pause on this one. I had to ask my manager haha. My manager just said I can be really bashful I’m a lot more shy than people think I am. I also eat a lot of cereal lol
AA: Where can we follow and support you out there on the web?
