Just when it seemed like nothing could slow down Yellowcard, riding high on the success of their hit single “Light Up the Sky,” the band announced on their website a week ago that bassist Pete Mosely had left the band. Alternative Addiction was lucky enough to catch up with Yellowcard front man Ryan Key last week while out on tour with Blue October.
“I think anywhere, for anything in life, it’s hard to keep five people going in the same direction for ten years,” said Key of Mosely’s departure. “Bands have member changes all the lime, it’s not easy but it’s something that happens.”
Key wasn’t as confident in his response as to whether Mosely left under good terms.
“I think so… I can’t hate the guy for wanting something different,” said Key. “It hasn’t been easy that’s for sure.”
It’s hard to imagine that terms could have been very good, considering Mosely’s departure came on mid-tour with Blue October, forcing the band to have a “friend” fill in for Mosley on the road.
Key was quick to say it’s still too soon to name a permanent replacement, but the temporary fill in will play the remaining tour dates with Blue October which runs through Mid-November.
