Tool's first album in 13 years, Fear Inoculum, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart dated September 14, dethroning Taylor Swift's Lover.

It's the band's third album to hit the top spot on the Billboard 200 after 2006's 10,000 Days and 2001's Lateralus.

According to Nielsen Music, Fear Inoculum logged 270,000 equivalent album units in the week ending September 5. Out of that, 248,000 were in album sales.

Dave Matthews Band's Come Tomorrow, which debuted at No. 1 on June 23, 2018, with 292,000 units, is the only album to have posted a bigger week than Fear Inoculum. However, unlike Tool's work, Come Tomorrow's success was supported by a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer.

Tool became the first band to fill the entire Rock Digital Songs Top 10 chart, with all five albums breaking into the Billboard 200 simultaneously. "Fear Inoculum" became the longest song to enter the Billboard Hot 100.

In the U.K., Fear Inoculum entered the Official Album Charts at No. 4.
