Mainstream rock titans Nickelback and 3 Doors Down are teaming for a summer U.S. tour that will run from June 29 to late July. A press release reports the trek will play more than 20 shows, primarily in amphitheaters. Routing, ticket information and a list of opening acts will be announced shortly.
Nickelback is in the midst of a Canadian tour that wraps March 31 in Prince George, British Columbia. A four-date Australian run begins May 1 in Melbourne. The group is touring in support of its latest Roadrunner album, "The Long Road," which debuted last year at No. 6 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 1.8 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
3 Doors Down will play the first of three Alabama shows tonight (March 24) in Pelham. Proceeds will benefit a variety of area charities. In addition, the group will perform a private show April 7 in Berlin, with tickets having been given away via its official Web site. Three U.K. shows follow through April 21 in Glasgow.
The group's latest album, "Away From the Sun," debuted last year at No. 8 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 2.9 million copies to date.
"They are like family to us and we have had some amazing times together," says Nickelback's Chad Kroeger of 3 Doors Down. "We are looking forward to some more great times ahead."
