My Chemical Romance have issued an explanation regarding their decision to receive financial aid from the government under the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).

The band were one of several, including The Eagles, Pearl Jam, Guns N' Roses and Green Day, to receive PPP loans from the federal government to cover losses as they were forced to postponed tours due to coronavirus crisis.

"Like most tours that were happening this year, My Chemical Romance's world tour was cancelled," the recently re-united band explained in a statement. "MCR received PPP money to ensure their crew is funded in these times of uncertainty until we are able to be out on the road again."

The band added, "We are so grateful to these skilled, dedicated people - some of them are parents, others caretakers, still others who simply have rent to pay - and this money helps them take care of themselves and their families."

MCR had to postpone their tour of Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, the U.K. and the U.S. to 2021. All tickets purchased are valid for the rescheduled dates. Refunds are also available at the point of purchase.
