Death Cab For Cutie recently paid tribute to the late Chris Cornell with a performance of the Soundgarden track "Fell On Black Days." The tribute took place as the band was performing a benefit concert in Seattle, Cornell's hometown.
"What an unbelievable talent he was, what f*****g insane singer he is," frontman Ben Gibbard commented before launching into the track.
Additionally, in the wake of his passing, Gibbard shared a note on his Facebook remembering Cornell, calling him "the most sophisticated lyricist of his Seattle contemporaries."
The Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman was found dead in his hotel room on May 17. He was 52. While Cornell's death is being treated as a suicide, his family has claimed that prescription drugs may have contributed toward him taking his own life.
