All Time Low Explain New Single

All Time Low's latest single "I Feel Like Dancin'" has been met with mixed reviews from fans of the band, but lead singer Alex Gaskarth says the song is meant to be a bit tongue-in-cheek.

All Time Low’s single “I Feel Like Dancin’” is vastly different from any single that the band has released in their career and it’s vastly different from any song that they’ve ever recorded. That’s just the sound of it though; doing something that’s a bit tongue-in-cheek is nothing new for the band. Still, if you went through and read comments on some different networks/boards/ping/etc. right after the song was released then you’ll notice that a few people were taking it a tad too seriously.

“To be honest, I think what happened was the first thing people heard of the song was a clip. And the clip didn’t necessarily indicate the tone of the song or the intention of the song," singer Alex Gaskarth told Alternative Addiciton.  A lot of people sort of flipped out over that thinking it was a fully-serious song. I think that for the most part now people are realizing what it is. It’s an ode to having a good time and not taking yourself too seriously. That’s the point of the whole song. Now that people are realizing that’s the point, I think a lot of people that may have been embittered by it are taking it under the wing and getting into it a little bit more.”

The band’s new single is their first ‘official’ song that they’re taking to radio with their new relationship with Interscope Records. The album will be out in June but until then the band will be on the road on the Dirty Work Tour. When the album drops in the summer is the whole album going to sound like “I Feel Like Dancin’?” Not according to Gaskarth.

“It’s one of those things that I think a lot of people are anticipating the entire album and asking themselves ‘Is the whole record going to have lines like everybody getting kinda krunk?’ The straight-forward answer is absolutely not.”

All Time Low’s Dirty Work comes out June 7th through Hopeless/Interscope. Several preorder bundles are available now.
