The Indie Song of the Day for today comes from Perth, Australia. The act is called Platform 2 and they’re made up of Grace Newton-Wordsworth and Aaron Birch. The duo is a bit of a throwback, but with Grace’s honey-sweet vocal and the outstanding production of the music we’re enamored with the music.
What’s cool about Platform 2 is they remind us of lots of 90s pop that was a bit middle-of-the-road, but also excellent; think stuff along the lines of Natalie Imbruglia and The Cardigans. Their debut single is the song we’re featuring, it’s called “Men Are From Mars” – you can check out the video for the song below.
How did the duo meet, we’ll let Grace share that with you:
"We are from very different places.. I am from a farm down South of Perth, and Aaron is from a remote Indigenous Community from the North of Western Australia. We came together through an awkward encounter of being forced into a room to play a song together, and we have been making music ever since."
Must have had something on my face😋 Thanks to everyone at the shows in Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Cologne and Munich - Loved connecting with you! 💗 📷 Emma Craft for dimanchecreative pic.twitter.com/iJhShQvyxE
