The The Indie Song of the Day comes from Alt-pop artist Ladysse aka Stephanie Lauren. The song we're featuring is her brand new song "Heartbreak Hollywood."

Ladysse is a Detroit-based artist that's initially from Sacramento. who spent the first year of her career opening up for Flor, Banners & Agnes Obel. She's not originally from th city but it's her base now and she's making the most of it.

Her new song was written and recorded in Nashville with Andrew Hansen and Aaron Ruiz. The song is an anthem of frustrations to a city where pressure can get the best of a person.

"Its basically a playful way to stand up for friends who have fallen into the drama and stresses that can stem from the lights of Hollywood," says Ladysse about the song.

“I used very playful and descriptive words in Heartbreak Hollywood,” says Lauren. “I try and paint a vivid picture of what comes to my mind. I wanted people to get a feel of the dim lit bars of perfect people enjoying fake conversations haha! It sounds so dreary but that’s the point! Behind the glamour, show and beauty of the west coast dreamland is a lot of struggle, competition and crushed dreams. I wanted people to feel the darkness in this as well as the hope that no matter what your struggle is, you’re not the only one.”
